Jyotish Shastra or Vedic Astrology refers to the study of movement of celestial objects and their influence on human life. Jyotish(ज्योतिष) literally means the study of light in Sanskrit and the light refers to the gleam of stars and planets.
As per Jyotish Shastra, each day of the week corresponds to a planet as well as gems and colours.
Saturday (शनिवार) is ruled by Planet Saturn (शनि). Saturn corresponds to the colour black, deep blue and deep purple.
Wearing black clothes on Saturday is said to be beneficial and invokes the blessings of Lord Shani.
